Description

The Prophet ('alaihi as-Salaam) and His Ten Companions (radeeyallaahu 'anhum)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the final Messenger of Allah, was the most noble and complete of all creation. He embodied perfect character, unmatched wisdom, and deep compassion for all beings. Sent as a mercy to the worlds, he guided humanity with patience and sincerity, leading by example in every facet of life — from prayer and charity to justice and forgiveness. His closest followers were men of immense faith, sincerity, and sacrifice, especially the ten companions to whom he gave the glad tidings of Paradise during their lifetimes.

These ten, known as al-‘Asharah al-Mubash-sharūn bil-Jannah, were pillars of the early Muslim community. Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu), the Prophet’s closest friend, was known for his truthfulness and steadfastness, the first man to accept Islam and the first Caliph after the Prophet's passing. ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu), known for his strength, justice, and fierce defense of the faith, became the second Caliph and expanded the Muslim world greatly. ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu), a man of great modesty and generosity, was twice married to the Prophet’s daughters and compiled the Qur’an into one written form during his rule as the third Caliph. ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhu), the Prophet’s cousin and son-in-law, was known for his deep knowledge, bravery, and piety, and later became the fourth Caliph.

Alongside them were six other noble companions: Talhah ibn ‘Ubaydullah and Zubayr ibn al-‘Awwam, both fearless in battle and loyal to the Prophet; ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Awf, a wealthy merchant whose generosity served the cause of Islam; Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqas, a skilled archer and one of the earliest converts; Sa‘id ibn Zayd, whose family was known for their early support of Islam; and Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah, called the “trustworthy of this Ummah,” beloved for his humility and leadership
